#12DaysOfDrLaura - Day 4 Kick dryness at night

In the winter months a lot of us suffer with dry or dehydrated skin. If you wake up with dry skin, change your bedtime routine, not the morning one. It’s easier to head off dryness at night than to reverse it the next day.

Dehydrated skin which tends to be a bit sensitive loses its glow, so its key to replenish this outer layer to keep your skin glowing all year long.

Top skin care ingredients to help boost and retain moisture:

* Hyaluronic Acid is capable of holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water - so it is the IDEAL hydrator for dry skin - and can also help with dehydrated skin.

* Ceramides are lipids that naturally make up over 50% of the skins surface. One of their main functions is to prevent moisture loss so look out for moisturisers with ceramides in them to hep get rid of dry skin.

* Even if you have dry skin it is important to use AHAs like glycolic acid and lactic acid which will removed the dead skin cells, but will also increase the skins ability to hold on to vital moisture.

* Omega fatty acids will also help with dry skin.

Some of my favourite products for dry skin include:

La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 serum

Skinceuticals HA intensifier

Paulas choice Omega+ Complex Moisturiser

The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors and HA

Any of the CeraVe Moisturisres which contain ceramides

Bioderma Hydrabio Creme & Masque
